Day 93 – from my book “Living and Dying”
“The earth is rude, silent, incomprehensible at first; be not discouraged – keep on – there are divine things, well enveloped; I swear to you there are divine things more beautiful than words can tell.” Walt Whitman
I have recently surrendered and embraced the thought or concept of communication as an emotional experience. For years I had tried to keep emotion out by trying to operate exclusively from my mind and not allowing my heart to participate. My mind was strong and I had developed it to work rather well. What I have re-learned is that when we live from a place of intellect, we become disconnected from our heart and with how it feels. If we disconnect with how it feels, we miss the opportunity to heal. And, if we don’t heal we stay wounded, or less than whole.
Feeling is a key to our life and the barometer of our connection between head and heart. When someone we care about has died, we are going to experience a thought and an associated feeling about it. If we do not, we need to take a close look at that because we cannot run or hide from it, it is a part of our nature. For some of us, we would rather find a way to escape this nightmare.
In my relationship with my business partner (cousin), I had to lead from my heart and reconnect with how it felt to be a member of his family as opposed to his business partner in order to experience healing. The journey toward healing involved choosing a path based on feeling but started with a conscious thought to change and journey from the heart. We get to make the choice, to choose. We all have the choice, and truthfully all we need is to be “willing.” If we’re willing to make the effort, there will be growth and there will be healing. I encourage you to make the choice of living and loving through all of life’s ups and downs, there is no better ride.
“Blessings on your journey”
