Compromise and courtesy

My friend Ken Williams shared this on facebook today.  I could have not said it better so, here it is!!

Compromise and courtesy – these are my two “prayer words” for today. In a news segment called “divided states of America,” a focus group was assembled representing the full spectrum of political positions. Individually, the participants said it was important to be able to disagree without being disagreeable. But, when the focus group leader opened discussion on a topic – like immigration – the name calling and “distancing behavior” began. The focus group leader’s conclusion: we know what is right but we don’t have the capacity to compromise. This is what our kids are learning. Don’t compromise. One in five school children report being bullied. Anecdotal evidence suggests that number might be much higher. “I don’t have to be nice to anyone who is different from me.”

So, I pray today for the capacity to compromise and for all of us to learn the art of courtesy.

”Blessings on your journey”

  1. How do we magnify the Lord? Loving each other is the ONLY command Jesus gave. I do not have to agree with someone in order to love him.
Deep forgiveness for even thinking that this world, which is made up out of the illusion of separateness, is real. Happy Monday. Let’s go forth joyfully in knowing and reflecting our Godself in ourselves and each other!!!
