Yanny or Laurel? 40% hear Yanny, 42% hear Laurel and 17% can hear both. the secret is frequency. The acoustic information that makes us hear Yanny is a higher frequency than the acoustic information that makes us hear Laurel, according to Lars Reicke an assistant professor of audition and cognitive neuroscience at Maastricht University. There is also an affect from the visual prompts.
When things like this happen it makes me think very seriously about our relationships and communications. Each of us have our own set of receptors that filter and decipher information coming at us. Each of us translate this information through the qualifiers of our physical sensors, personal memories and experiences and arrive at various conclusions. All different but with similarities. It might even be true to say that we never can totally experience total oneness with each other because we’re each different and unique. Ok, now I’m scaring myself, I still harbor some fear around being alone. I guess its time for a bike ride! Giddy-up
