This morning, I am sitting in front of the TV watching a black hearse transport the body of Senator John McCain to the Vietnam Memorial in tribute. Just the other day I witnessed the images and celebration of the late Aretha Franklin. It feels good to know that we still can experience loss and celebrate life in a fashion appropriate to everyone. We can still feel and join in as community in a common event that affects us all.
There will be a day when this event comes to each and everyone of us. It is my sincere hope and wish that we all can enter this place of loss, remembering full well the gifts and values each one of us brought to those around us, and in our community, be it large or small. Each life is special, each life has its value and gifts, and each life is one of a kind to be remembered and honored in a special way, as we travel on this journey called life. Giddy-up
